I can help you in a one-on-one session either in-person or online. I am a photography instructor with over 20 years of experience. I have trained hundreds of amateur photographers. I can help with both the technical and aesthetic aspects of picture making.

Suggested session duration is 1 to 3 hours. 5-hour and 10-hour discount packages may be used over multiple sessions.

Digital Photography Essentials Lesson Package ($400.00)
This is our most requested private lesson offering. It covers the most essential topics participants need to know to be start being more effective using their digital camera off automatic/program mode. Practice exercises are offered as homework for participants to do on their own time. For those with limited time, this is a helpful quick start approach. The special offer pricing applies to only this content. It typically takes 5.5 to 6 hours to complete this lesson package. Lesson hours are usually split over 3 sessions to allow practice time between sessions. This package is just for the Digital Photography Essentials curriculum only.
2 hr In-person or online lesson / consultation ($160.00)
This is the minimum recommended lesson duration for new students.

This option is also good for iPhone camera users interested in learning iPhone camera basics.
1 hr In-person or online lesson / consultation ($80.00)
This option is intended for previous students. It is not ideal for a first lesson because it is too short.
6-hr discount package for In-person or online lesson / consultation ($430.00)
This lesson package includes a $50 discount off the hourly rate. Lesson hours are typically split over multiple sessions.
10-hr discount package for In-person or online lesson / consultation ($725.00)
This lesson package includes a $75 discount off the hourly rate. Lesson hours are typically split over multiple sessions.

In-person session
In-person sessions are typically conducted at my office space at Office Evolution, 4801 Glenwood Avenue, Suite 200, Raleigh, NC (across the street from Macy's at Crabtree Valley Mall).

If not at my office, a travel fee of 50 cents per mile plus tolls and parking applies. The travel fee is waived for these additional Triangle locations, suitable for field sessions:

Online session
Online sessions are done using a private, password protected "Zoom" video conferencing "meeting" for our session. These sessions are live and interactive, not pre-recorded. You need an internet connected computer/laptop with integrated/connected webcam, microphone and speakers to participate. There is no additional software cost to you to participate in the private video conference we setup for our session. The video conferencing platform is easy to use and key features will be explained in a complementary orientation briefing that last just a few minutes at the beginning of a session, before we get into the content of the session. In the video conference you can see and hear me, see my presentation slides, see other programs I'm working with on my machine e.g. image editing software like Adobe Lightroom Classic, Photoshop, Nik or Topaz, see and hear the other participants (if there are any). You can choose to share your video (webcam feed) so I can see your camera and direct you to where settings are on your camera. In addition, you can choose to share images on your computer with me, and you can raise your hand and ask questions in real time.

Scheduling

Appointments are required for all sessions. Sessions can be scheduled for weekdays, weekends, during the day or evenings. It is recommended that you make an appointment at least two weeks in advance, although some last-minute appointments may be possible. We will get back to you if there is an availability issue.
